There is still no official box office being reported in the US but from the drive-in theatres that are reporting The Wretched spends an amazing fourth weekend at the top with We Summon The Darkness reported at the top new film.

Here is a breakdown of the top 5 films.

The Wretched

The movie expanded from 21 theatres to 59 this weekend and in the process remained the top film with a weekend take of $186K.

This puts the film total gross at $548.6K and it has to be asked if the movie can make it to $1 Million, maybe just from drive-in's.

We Summon The Darkness

We Summon The Darkness

Directed by Marc Meyers and starring Alexandra Daddario and Keean Johnson, this supernatural horror movie takes a respectable $30.2K on its debut.

The Trip To Greece

A couple of familiar faces pop up at number 3 as a new entry as Director Michael Winterbottom continues his 'The Trip To' series.

This is the fourth in the series and all star Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon mainly having a chat over dinner, this entry enters the US box office with $1.1K.

How To Build A Girl

Directed by Coky Giedroyc this comedy spends its third weekend on the box office with $1K taking its total to $67.5K.

True History Of The Kelly Gang

Finishing off the US box office this week is the Justin Kurzel directed movie which take $324 for a $450.5K total.

Joker makes its global debut at the top of the box office with little in the way of competition while there are a trio of Chinese films which make their way into the top 5 as they expand to more countries.


With good word of mouth the Joaquin Phoenix starring movie has smashed the global box office on its debut weekend with a gross of $234 Million from 74 countries.

This is higher than expected and the good word of mouth for the movie should allow it to be one of the biggest October hits, and certainly one of the biggest DC films.

My People, My Country

The Chinese film which is a collection of 7 shot stories from different directors is available in 8 territories and it enters the global box office at number 2 with a weekend gross of $100.6 Million.

The film has been on release since 1st October (last Tuesday) and its total global gross is already $286.9 Million.

The Captain

This real life drama of an airline captain who saved a plane destined for disaster lands at number 3 this week with a weekend gross of $100.4 Million from 6 countries.

The film was released at the start of the week and has a total global gross of $250.4 Million.


Dreamworks animated film has done well but is now falling fast and this week is at number 4 with a weekend gross of $36.6 Million from $46 countries.

This puts the film total gross at $76.3 Million after 2 weeks of release.

The Climbers

Another true life Chinese drama hits the box office at number 5 this week with a weekend gross of $30 Million from 3 countries.

Including previews this puts the films total global gross at $106.6 Million.

British hit Downton Abbey beats a trio of new releases at the top of the US box office to hit the top spot on its debut leaving IT Chapter Two to fall off the top to number 4 after a couple of weeks at the top.

Taking to top spot on the US box office on its debut weekend of release is the British ITV drama series which has been translated to the big screen.

The TV series was already a big hit in America and the first film hits the top with a weekend gross of a very respectable $31 Million.

Ad Astra

Ad Astra

Brad Pitt stars as an astronaut who is sent ot look for his presumed dead father in deep space.

The James Gray directed film opens at number 2 with a $19.2 Million debut gross.

Rambo: Last Blood

Sylvester Stallone brings one of his more famous creations back to the big screen for one last outing which enters the box office at number 3 this week with $19 Million debut.

IT Chapter Two

The horror film starring Pennywise falls from the top after 2 weeks at the top with a weekend gross of $17.2 Million.

This takes the film gross to $179.1 Million after 3 weeks of release, the film will not get close to its predecessors $327 Million total US gross.


Much has been made of this Jennifer Lopez starring movie, with word of possible Oscar glory come next February, but the film falls to number 5 this week with a $17 Million take.

This puts the films total gross at $62.5 Million after 2 weeks of release.

The Lion King

Disneys animated feature remake is at number 6 this week and has the longest run on this weeks US box office at 10 weeks, the film has made an incredible $537.5 Million so far.

Last week saw IT Chapter Two at the top of the UK box office, can any of this weeks new releases do enough to top the chart this weekend?

Night Hunter

Downton Abbey

First up at cinemas this week is Downton Abbey, a Dramatic movie directed by Michael Engler who also directed Single With Parents in 2008 which grossed £0.

It stars Matthew Goode who last starred in The Big Bad Fox And Other Tales (2018) and Maggie Smith who last appeared in Tea With The Dames (2018).

Night Hunter

Next on the new release schedule is Night Hunter, this new Action movie stars Alexandra Daddario and Henry Cavill.

The film is brought to us by new director David Raymond.


Next up this week is Hustlers which is directed by Lorene Scafaria who directed Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World in 2012.

It stars Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez.

Tarantino's highest grossing film to date goes back to the top of the box office after falling to number 2 last weekend.

The Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt starring movie takes £1.8 Million over the weekend to push its UK gross to £16.3 Million.

The Lion King

Disneys mega smash moves up to number 2 this week with a weekend gross of £1.2 Million.

This gives the Jon Favreau directed movie an amazing UK gross os £71.7 Million after 7 weeks of release and its the second highest grossing movie of the year.

Angel Has Fallen

After taking the top spot last weekend the threequel movie falls hard to number 3 in its second week with a gross of £1.2 Million, this pushes the films total gross to £4.5 Million.

Dora And The Lost City Of Gold

Still hanging on to a place in the top 5 the Dora The Explorer move falls to 4 with £622,872 for a total in the UK of £4 Million after 3 weeks.

Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs And Shaw

Falling to number 5 this week the Fast & Furious franchise film takes £610,479 which increases its total to £19 Million after 5 weeks of release.

Highest new film of the week comes in at number 10, the Andrea Di Stefano directed movie stars Ana de Armas and Rosamund Pike and starts its UK run with £301,424.

Toy Story 4
