News from around the web

A new trailer and poster has been released for upcoming movie Free Guy both of which can be seen below.

Starring among others Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer the movie is directed by Shawn Levy and it has a release date of 11th December 2020.

At the moment this will be the next 'big' release at cinemas with most 2020 blockbusters moving to 2021, All thats left after this movie is Death On The Nile, Dune then Wonder Woman 1984 all of which also have December release.

Synopsis of the movie

Are video games real? Free City is an open world ono-line game like Grand Theft Auto or Fortnite and Guy (Ryan Reynolds) is one of the world non-player character (or NPC, a character that humans cant play with) who is working as a simple bank teller in the game.

Thanks to some programmers who inserted a bit of code into the game Guy becomes aware of his world being a video game and sees an opportunity to become the hero, instead of a nobody.

With the developers wanting to shut the game down Guy must race against the odd to stop this from happening.

Check out the movie page for more information on this film.

Virtual Reality os the name of the game in Ready Player One and today we get the first full trailer for the new Spielberg film.

With plenty of pop culture references it is released at the end of March 2018.

Check out the new trailer below

Out with the old, in with the new, its happened about 10 years after the game series got it but Tomb raider gets a much needed reboot.

Starring Alicia Vikander the film gets its first trailer today, check it out below.

And is it just me or does this look like a better version of the Jumanji reboot due Christmas 2017?

Tomb Raider is due march 2018.

It was a close run thing this week between Captain America: Civil War and The Angry Birds Movie making its debut but in the end the Marvel film won.

Civil War now makes it three weeks at the top and this week adds £2.7 million to its gross which has now soared to £32.1 million.

The film is now the 5th highest grossing of the year and before it finishes its run it should beat Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice and Deadpool, currently at 4 and 3 respectively.

The Angry Birds Movie is the highest new film at number 2 which on its debut takes £2.1 million.

Aiming squarely at kids but also appealing to adults that hooked on the game the film loosely follows the plot of the games.

The film should do well over the coming half term but will have limited appeal after that.

Longest stay by a film on the box office this week is Zootopia with 8 weeks and the highest grossing movie is The Jungle Book at £39.3 million after 5 weeks.

The latest Marvel film has now been on release for just shy of 3 weeks and is heading for the $1 billion mark which is should do by next weekend.

This far outstrips any of the previous Captain America films and is becoming one of the most successful Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

This will hit the right notes with children and maybe adults which got adicted to the game a few years ago so it could have great legs going forward.
