The coronavirus pandemic has caused most cinemas in many countries to close, and Disney is one company who will not release box office figures this coming weekend.
This has caused many studios including Disney, Universal and Warner Bros. to release their movies on streaming or digital far sooner than would normally have done.
Film so far getting the early release treatment are The Invisible man, Bloodshot, Birds Of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) and now Onward.
There is a flip side to this, and one which we hope does not stick, the studios are being given the chance to see how releasing films simultaneously on digital and cinema adds up.
Time will tell but these are difficult time for most people, and an unprecedented time, our hope is that all this time indoors will make people realise how important it is to get out of the house, even if it is for a trip to their local multiplex.
