Global Box Office Figures 13th - 15th August 2021: Free Guy tops the global box office on its debut with $50.9 Million

As the movies that were delayed due to the pandemic keep hitting the global box office we get another new movie making its debut at the top, this week its Free Guy which has a better debut than expected.

Horror sequel Don't Breathe 2 also gets a new entry at number 5 this weekend while the Aretha Franklin Bio-Pic Respect gets a debut at number 6 with $8.8 Million.

Sinkhole and The PAW Patrol: Movie finish off the top 10 with debut's at 9 and 10 respectively and $6 Million and $5.8 Million respectively.

Global box office top 5 breakdown weekend 13th - 15th August 2021

Free Guy

Delayed in cinemas because of the pandemic the Ryan Reynolds starring comedy finally gets a release and hits the top of the global box office on its debut.

The movie is a feel good comedy about a video game non playable character who suddenly realises what he is, and just maybe this is what the world needs right now as the movie takes just over $50 Million on its debut from 42 countries.

Raging Fire

The Chinese produced movie movies back up to number 2 this weekend with a release in a couple more territories and this weekend takes $26.3 Million from just 3 countries, an 18% increase from last weekend.

This gives the movie a total global gross of $122.2 Million after 3 weeks of release.

The Suicide Squad

Falling from the top on its third weekend of release the comic book bad guy movie takes $24.7 Million this weekend from a massive 71 countries, a large 60% drop from last weekend where is went on wide release.

The movie has been around for 3 weeks now and has taken $118 Million globally.

Jungle Cruise

The Disney adventure movie based on a themepark ride takes $15.7 Million this weekend from 50 countries, a 49% drop over last weekending, giving the movie a $154.1 Million total after 3 weeks.

Don't Breathe 2

A sequel to the 2016 original Don't Breathe hits the global box office at number 5 this weekend with a debut gross of $14 Million from 24 countries.
