Barbie this weekend becomes the first movie directed solely by a female director to reach the $1 Billion club.

Honory mention has to go to Frozen and Frozen II director Jennifer Lee who was the co-director on both movies which made $1.2 Billion and she is now the Chief Creative Officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Despite this Barbie got knocked off the top spot on the global box office this weekend by Meg 2: The Trench which took over $140 Million on its debut.
