Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
There is still life in old franchises as Paramount prove this week with the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows.

Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird created the mutant turtles is 1984 with the first film appearing in 1990 and this is the 6th film to bear the name although it has been rebooted a couple of times.

26 years then after their first appearance they climb to the top of the US box office with their latest film and sequel to the 2014 film.

A $35 million weekend sees it easily dislodge X-Men Apocalypse which falls from the top to number 2 after a 2 week stay.

Also new this week in America us Me Before You which enters at number 3 and Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping which is new at 8.

Top total grossing film in the US at the moment is Captain America: Civil War with $389 million and longest stay on the chart is 8 weeks from The Jungle Book.
