World Box Office Weekending 9th July 2017: Spider-Man is the global top film of the week on its debut

Across the globe this week Spider-Man Homecoming makes its debut at the top with a global gross of $257 million from 57 countries.

The first Spider-Man film to be released into the MCU the film also stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man which seems to have broadened the appeal of the film.

The film did well in the US taking $117 million but took $140 million on the international markets with South Korea leading the way.

Despicable Me 3 fell from the top to number 2 this week with $172.9 million from 61 countries, this brings the film total global gross to $447.5 million.

Wonder Woman is at number 4 this week and is the highest total grossing film globally, it has now grossed $745 million and is still showing in 65 countries.

Worth a mention if The House That Never Dies II, only released in 1 country it sits at number 6 this week with $14 million.

Cars 3 this week falls to number 8, with a total gross of $193 million globally it could well end up as the lowest grossing Pixar movie to date.
