Harry Potters record-breaking weekend

Harry Potters record-breaking weekend
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
The end has come and Harry Potter has had his last (at least for the foreseeable future) opening weekend at the box office, and it turns out to be one hell of a weekend, although in the UK not the best ever.

In the UK the film opened to a phenomenal £23,753,171 which now sits as the second highest opening weekend ever in the UK, a slither behind The Prisoner of Azkaban for 2004 which opened to £23,882,688, which did so with less screens showing the film and no 3D so all round better.

Despite this the film has had a good world opening, it has broken the US record for opening weekend which was previously held by The Dark Knight, it has also had the greatest world wide opening weekend with very close to half a billion dollars.

Deathly Hallows part 2 could go on to be the highest grosser or the 8 films domestically and across the world, and who know could be the first Potter to cross the world gross landmark of $1 billion.
