The Secret Life of Pets was a massive hit for Universal that was released on 24th June 2016 and it hit the top of the box office on its debut with £9.5 million, the 74th best UK opening.
The film spent 3 weeks at the top before making a very slow decent down the box office, it spent an incredible 14 weeks in total on the top 15.
The total gross for the film in the UK is £35.8 million which makes it the 68th top grossing film while globally it took $864.2 million (£696 million) and is the 50th top film across the world.
Last weeks top film, X-Men Apocalypse, fell down to number 3 this week after a week at the top.
Also new this week is Independence Day Resurgence, sequel to the 1996 hit film it made number 2 on the box office on 24th June.
Worth noting is the flurry of Christmas films that are starting to pop up in the home video charts, this week we have Arthur Christmas at 9, How The Grinch Stole Christmas at 10 and Elf at 11.
