US Box Office Weekend Report 12th - 14th May 2023: With weak new releases providing no challenge Guardians of the Galaxy 3 spends a second weekend at the top

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
A strong second weekend for the MCU movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 keeps it at the top of the US box office for a second weekend.

The movie takes $60 Million over the weekend which is a 49% drop, the lowest second weekend drop for an MCU movie in a while, the movies total gross is now over $213 Million.

Remaining at number 2 after 6 weeks of release is the smash hit animated movie The Super Mario Bros. Movie which has now passed the $500 Million milestone at the US box office.

Highest new movie of the weekend is the sequel to Book Club, Book Club 2: The Next Chapter, which has a debut gross of $6.5 Million, half that of the first movie.

Also new this weekend is the Ben Affleck movie Hypnotic at 6 with $2.3 Million, Knights of the Zodiac at 11 with $535,000, BlackBerry at 13 with $473,000 and finally Fool's Paradise at 14 with $443,140.
