US Box Office Weekend Report 15th - 17th December 2023: Wonka makes its debut at the top of the US box office with $39 Million

The Timothee Chalamet led reworking of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story, Wonka, makes its debut at the top of the US box office on its debut.

The movie takes a little over $39 Million on its debut which is higher that the $20.7 Million of the 2005 Tim Burton directed movie.

Prequel movie The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes stays at number 2 this weekend while last weeks top movie The Boy and the Heron falls to number 3 with a weekend gross of $5.1 Million.
