Tenet
After the re-opening of some cinemas across the US, movie theatres continue to open but at a slower rate and the box office has levelled off a bit, although still higher during the height of the pandemic.

Tenet remains at the top of the list as you would expect and the little hyped movie Infidel is the top new movie of the weekend.

For the first time in a few weeks there is a film inside the top 5 that didn't take over a million over the weekend.

Here is the top 5 movie in the US weekend 18th - 20th September 2020.

Tenet

Another weekend for director Christoper Nolans 'saviour of cinema' as the mixed reviewed movie takes $4.7 Million over its third weekend of release.

This gives the movie a total US gross of $36.1 Million, the movie is being considered a flop, but in these difficult times it was bound to fail, in reality we dont know what would have happened had the situation been normal.

It is looking like the movie could make a move to VOD sooner rather than later, but with many people still not prepared o go the to movie theatre we could see an Onward situation where the movie continues its box office run while available on VOD, a trend which is worrying for the cinema industry.

The New Mutants

Disney's troubled mutant movie stays at number 2 this weekend with a gross of $1.6 Million taking its total gross to $17.7 Million after 4 weeks of release.

This has undoubtably been a miss for the studio, but ironically it may make the same money under the pandemic as it would have had it been released normally.

Infidel

Infidel

Highest new movie of the week is this political action flick directed and written by Cyrus Nowrasteh who previously brought us The Young Messiah in 2016.

The film takes $1.5 Million on it debut weekend of release and is at number 3.

Unhinged

Another movie which has arguably had more exposure under the COVID-19 pandemic than it would normally is this Russell Crowe film which takes $1.3 Million on its 6th weekend of release for a $15.7 Million total and falls to number 4.

The Broken Hearts Gallery

Falling to number 5 this week is the romantic comedy directed by Natalie Krinsky which takes $800K on its second weekend for a total of $2.4 Million.
