US Box Office Weekend Report 5th - 7th May 2023: Guardians of the Galaxy 3 makes its debut with $114 Million on the US box office

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The shining star of the MCU might seemingly be starting to fade, but with the relese of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 we get a new number one movie with a debut gross of $114 Million.

This is lower that the second movie in the series but a bit higher than Guardians of the Galaxy from 2014, time will tell how the movie does long term.

After an amazing 4 weeks at the top The Super Mario Bros. Movie drop to number 2 with a weekend gross of $18.6 Million taking its US gross to over the $500 Million milestone, making it the 19th top grossing movie ever in the US.

Doing better than anyone could have expected horror movie Evil Dead Rise is at 3 this weekend with $5.7 Million taking its total gross to $54 Million after 3 weeks.

Outside the top 5 there is a new entry for Love Again at 6 with $2.1 Million while the rest of the top 15 is dominated by holdover movies.
