US box office weekend top 5 breakdown 7th - 9th January 2022
Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man movie spends a fourth weekend at the top of the US box office with a gross os $33 Million, a slender 37% drop over last weekend.
The movie is the longest running number 1 movie since Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, also from the MCU, also spend 4 week at the top in September 2021.
The movie is now the 6th top movie in the US of all time having just overtaken Titanic and Jurassic World and should overtake Avengers: Infinity War and maybe Black Panther by next weekend.
The animated sequel movie is proving to be a massive hit and this week remains at number 4 on the US box office with $11.9 Million, 39% down on last weekend.
THe movie has now taken $109 Million over 3 weeks of release.
Highest debut of the weekend is the Simon Kinberg action movie starring Diane Kruger and Pen�lope Cruz which after a number of delays finally arrives at number 3 with $4.8 Million on its debut.
Matthew Vaughn's prequel movie falls to number 3 this weekend with $3.7 Million on its third weekend of release, a small 27% drop over last weekend.
This gives the movie a $25 Million total gross on the US box office.
The sport underdog movie falls to number 5 this weekend with $2.4 Million, 41% down on last weekend, giving the movie a total of $18.7 Million after 3 weeks.
