Barbarian

Highest New Movie This Weekend

The celebrated horror movie from director Zach Cregger who also directed Miss March in 2009 hits the top of the North American box office on its debut weekend of release.

In a very quiet weekend for the box office through lack of high profile releases the movie takes $10 Million on its debut.

Despite that fact the Indian movie RRR was a bit hit earlier this year in North American it is not that common for Hindi speaking film to do well in America, but given the lack of new movie this movie from director Ayan Mukerji hits number 2 on its debut.

The movie takes $4.4 Million this weekend, in comparison RRR tool $9.5 Million in March landing at number 3, but it was a far busier period for the box office.

The Brad Pitt starring movie falls to number 3 this weekend with a gross of $3.2 Million, a large 43% drop but it is on its 6th weekend of release.

The movie has taken a total of $92.5 Million at the North American box office as it looks at the $100 Million milestone.

Top Gun: Maverick

The biggest movie of the year, so far, drops to number 4 this weekend after hitting the top spot on the last weekend of the summer, this weekend it takes $3.1 Million which is a 47% drop over last weekend, still not bad for a movie on its 16th weekend of release.

This gives the movie a total gross in North America of $705.6 Million which means it is, and most likely will be, the top movie of 2022, the movie has also made its way into the top 5 movies of all time in America as its sits at number 5.

It has a long way to go to get any higher with Avatar sitting at number 4 with $760.5 Million, this seems out of reach for a movie which is coming to the end of its box office life, but I wouldn't write off this movie to do anything just yet!

The animated movie from Warner Bros. falls to number 5 this weekend with $2.8 Million on its 7th weekend, a 44% drop giving it a total North American gross of $85.4 Million.
