Top 50 grossing movies worldwide have all grossed over $1 Billion at the WorldWide Box Office

Top Gun: Maverick
This weekend the Tom Cruise starring movie Top Gun: Maverick crossed the $1 Billion mark at the global box office, and in doing to entered the top 50 movies of all time.

This also means that the top 50 highest grossing movies worldwide have all taken over $1 Billion at the box office.

Titanic

The first movie to do this was Titanic back in 1997, which stood as the highest grossing movie for 10 years until Avatar took over.

Avatar is still the highest grossing movie of all time to this day, despite giving up the crown to Avengers: Endgame for a time in 2019.

There was a time a few years back when movies in franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Fast & Furious were almost guaranteed to over a Billion but the COVID-19 pandemic has changes things and in the last 2 years only Top Gun: Maverick and Spider-Man: No Way Home has gone over the landmark figure, with Spider-Man: No Way Home getting close to $2 Billion.

And talking of $2 Billion, 5 movie have crossed this landmark, Avatar, Avengers: Endgame, Titanic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War.
