News from around the web

After Warner Bros. announced earlier Monday that Dune was moving from December 2020 to 1st October 2021, the same day as The Batman, it was only a matter of time until they moved the Robert Pattinson starring movie.

The Batman has now been moved to 4th March 2022, 18 month from now, that is a hell of a wait.

The movies production has been hit quite hard with COVID-19 including star Pattinson coming down with the virus.

Also on the move is The Martrix 4 which is yet to get a full title, the movie starring Keanu Reeves is now set for Christmas 2021 while further down the line The Flash is set for November 2022 and Shazam 2 moves to June 2023!

No doubt more changes are to come, Warner Bros. still have Wonder Woman 1984 set for Christmas 2020, what are the odds for that changing?

During the 2020 online DCFanDome to celebrate all things from the DC universe Director Matt Reeves revealed the first trailer and poster for his upcoming The Batman movie.

The movie stars Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight and is based on The Batman in his early days of crime fighting.

The new trailer gives little to nothing away and is dark, suitably moody and shows Pattinson in his Batman outfit, and has a small amount of action.

What is actually the most incredible thing is that only about 25% of the movie had been shot before the COVID-19 pandemic halted production, and yet they still managed to get a very good trailer complete.

The poster is very good and gives a lot away without giving anything away, like any good teaser poster.

The movie is currently set for an October 1st 2021 release, but with the production only just ready to start again that may change.

During the build up for this years (maybe) one of a kind online DCFanDome experience director Matt Reeves has revealed the logo for the upcoming The Batman Movie.

The movie stars Robert Pattinson in the title role and has a young Bruce Wayne discovering the ways of The Batman.

Also starring in the movie is Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and the ever present butler Alfred Pennyworth is played by Andy Serkis.

With a release date originally set for June 2021 the production had to go on hold during the coronavirus pandemic and will now be released on 1st October 2021.

Not a lot is known about the movie yet and its not known if this will be part of the greater DCEU or a stand alone like 2019's The Joker.

What is #DCFanDome? It is an online event that is free for all fans to join for 24-hours only on August 22nd, and is taking place largely because ComicCon 2020 was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Production was about quarter of the way through on The Batman before it was halted because of the global pandemic, and unsurprisingly the release date has now shifted to 1st October 2021.

The original release was set as 25th June 2021 but after the halt in production that was never going to happen.

The film is directed by Matt Reeves and stars Robert Pattinson as batman along with Colin Farrell and The Penguin and Andy Serkis and his trusty butler and friend Alfred Pennyworth.

Other film on the move from the DC universe are The Flash movie which is now set for 3rd June 2021 and the Shazam! sequel which gets moved to November 4th 2022.

Also getting a change is The Sopranos prequel movie The Many Saints Of Newark which will now be seen in cinemas on March 12th 2021.

Todd Phillips movie Joker stays at the top of the Uk box office for another weekend despite challengers from 3 new comers to the chart inside the top 5 with Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil by far the top grossing of the new movies.

The Joaquin Phoenix starring film about the Batman villain makes it a third week in a row at the top of the UK box offie with a take of a fantastic £5.5 Million.

This pushes the film total gross to £40.3 Million, far greater than expectation and its the 5th top grossing movie of 2019, it will overtake Captain Marvel by next weekend.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

The sequel movie from Disney starring Angelina Jolie makes its UK debut at number 3 with a fairly respectable weekend gross of £3.3 Million.

Compared to the original movie this is roughly half that films debut gross, but the UK bucks the trend of much of the world where the film seems to have bombed.

The film has got fairly bad reviews from critics which wont have helped, but the paying audiences have been more in favour, so in the coming weeks word of mouth might help.

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

The new film from Aardman Animation come in at number 3 this week with a gross of £1.3 Million.

Again this is a sequel movie which has not done at well as the previous movie, Shaun The Sheep Movie, and come in a little better than half as the film took just over £2 Million on its debut.

Zombieland: Double Tap

Another sequel comes in at number 4, this time is a followup 10 years in the making as the new Zombieland film comes in with a debut gross of £1.2 Million.

The audience for zombie movies has clearly not changes as the original movie came in with an almost identical debut gross.

Dreamworks animates tale falls to number 5 this week with a gross of a shade under £1 Million which puts the films total after 2 weeks at £3.2 Million.

Toy Story 4

Pixars animated sequel does the double this week as its the top total grossing movie with £66 Million and the longest total run at 18 weeks, its at number 15 this week so it could be the movies last weekend on the box office.
