Avatar: The Way of Water crosses the $1 Billion mark in less than 2 weeks of release

The sequel to the highest grossing movie of all time was always going to be a massive hit, and its taken less than 2 weeks for Avatar: The Way of Water to cross the landmark.

The movie reached the milestone on Wednesday 28th December, 12 days after its December 16th release.

Breaking it down the movies box office gross is as follows.

• American (Domestic) total = $317.1 Million
• International (everywhere elese) total = $712.7 Million
• Global total = $1.02 Billion.

This places the movie as the 49th highest grossing movie of all time, and the 53rd movie to make over $1 Billion at the global box office.

There is a strong chance that the movie will follow in the footsteps of Avatar and join the $2 Billion club which currently has 5 memebers

2. Avengers: Endgame - $2.7 Billion
3. Titanic - $2.2 Billion
4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $2.06 Billion
5. Avengers: Infinity War - $2.048 Billion

Spider-Man: No Way Home from 2021 came close but even after a second outing at the box office stalled at $1.915 Billion.
