Check back on Monday to see what new movies made it onto the Weekend Box Office Chart.

Next weeks there are 4 new movies

    • Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train, Wednesday, 26th May
    • Cruella, Friday, 28th May
    • The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Friday, 28th May
    • First Cow, Friday, 28th May

Tenet is still the top film of the week and seems to have kept After We Collided at number 2 for a third weekend while further down the chart Schemers from director Dave Mclean is the highest debut at number 10.

There were no big new releases this weekend and the box office reflects that with the top 5 almost remaining the same with Onward making a reappearance to replace the Andre Rieu concert from last weekend.

Here is a breakdown of this weeks box office.

    • Number 1 - Tenet
    • Highest debut - Schemers (@10)
    • Longest run - Onward
    • Highest total gross - Tenet (£14,995,041)

Here is our breakdown of the top 5 UK movies 25th - 27th September 2020.

    Tenet

With 5 weeks on the chart and 5 weeks at the top Christopher Nolans movie may not have saved cinema but with nothing in the way of bog new release due until No Time To Die on 12th November it could spend another 5 weeks at the top giving it 10 weeks in total, unless After We Collided as something gto say about that!

This weekend the movie took its lowest gross to date with £648.5K giving it a total of £15 Million and it jumps over Jumanji: The Next Level and is the 7th highest grossing of the year.

Amazingly despite the less than favourable reviews, and perhaps because of the limited capacity in movie theatres the film only drops 19% from last weekend.

    Afte We Collided

A third weekend at number 2 for Roger Kumble's low budget sleeper hit with a weekend gross of £514K taking its total UK gross to £2.5 Million.

With good word of mouth and little in the way of big new films for a few weeks it would not be out of the question for the movie to take the number 1 spot in the coming weeks.

The movie took 14% less than last weekend gross.

Bill & Ted Face the Music

Hanging on at number 3 is part 3 of the Bill And Ted saga which takes £216.7K on its second weekend taking its total gross to £834.9K.

With good reviews and more cinemas opening up and slowly increasing capacity a long run on the box office and a gross over £1 Million is not out of the question.

Despite its position on the box office its down 53% from last weekend when it debuted.

    Onward

It seems this Pixar/Disney movie just wont go away, it re-enters the box office this weekend with £126.3K taking its total to £7.3 Million after 16 weeks on the chart.

Amazingly the movie is up 33% from its gross last weekend.

    The New Mutants

Other Disney property that has done far better than expected as their mutant movie takes £93.2K at number 5 with a total gross of £1.4 Million after 4 weeks of reelase.

The movie drops 12% from last weekend.

At the UK box office this weekend, Friday, 25th September 2020, there are 4 new releases looking challenge Tenet who is at the top of the box office, or will sleeper hit After We Collided keep on its incredible climb of the last few weeks and leap from 2 to 1?

Here are this weeks new films in the UK.

    Miss Juneteenth

    • The movie is from director Channing Godfrey Peoples
    • It is their directorial debut.
    • It stars Nicole Beharie who last starred in Monsters And Men (2019).
    • The film also stars Kendrick Sampson who is making a feature film debut.

    Monsoon

    • This new release stars Henry Golding who's last film was The Gentlemen (2020)
    • It also stars Parker Sawyers who appeared in Nan: The Movie (2020).
    • The film is brought to us by 2 time director Hong Khaou.

    Schemers

    • The movie is directed by Dave Mclean and is their directorial debut.
    • It stars Conor Berry and Sean Connor.

    23 Walks

    • Also this week there is 23 Walks from director Paul Morrison who also directed Little Ashes in 2009.
    • The film features Dave Johns and Alison Steadman in starring roles.

Check back on Monday to see if these new releases enter the UK Weekend Box Office Chart.

Next weeks there are 2 new movies

    • Eternal Beauty, Friday, 2nd October
    • Summer Of 85, Friday, 2nd October

This week sees the return on Shia LaBeouf to the box office in The Tax Collector which makes its way onto the few hundred cinemas and drive-ins that are open across the country and takes the top spot on its debut.

There are a number of new released hitting the top 5 this week and all are available on VOD streaming services as well as at selected cinemas as seems to be the 'new normal' which the world is experiencing at the moment.

Here is a breakdown of the top 5 movies in America for weekend 7th - 9th August 2020.

    The Tax Collector

Directed by David Ayer this action movie makes its debut at the top of the box office knocking The Rental from the top after residing there for a couple of weeks.

    The Rental

The Dave Franco directed movie falls to number 2 this week after a couple of weeks at the top with $123.7K over the weekend.

The movie now joins the growing number of movies that have made over a million dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic with $1.1 Million total gross after 3 weeks of release.

    Made In Italy

Liam Neeson is back in this romantic comedy directed by James D'Arcy which takes $33.9K on its debut weekend of release.

The US box office is still limping along with drive-in movie theatres making up most of the box office figures as cinemas continue to struggle to re-open in light of the continued threat of COVID-19

This week The Rental remains at the top and older catalogue titles still continue to dominate the top 5 movies.

Here are the top 5 movies in America 31st July - 2 August 2020.

    The Rental

The Dave Franco directed horror movie spends another weekend at the top of the US box office with a gross of $317K over the Friday to Sunday frame.

The movie has now taken just under a million with $916K and will most likely be the third film under the cinema closures to cross the million mark.

    The Goonies

The 1983 classic spends a 6th weekend on rerelease on the box office, this weekend its sits at number 2 with a gross of $150K pushing the movies total to $62.7 Million since release.
