Dune

The movie got delayed by over a year, and after the failure of last years Tenet its wasn;t much of a suprise that Warner Bros. did, but this week the Denis Villeneuve vision of Frank Herbert classic sci-fi, impossible to film, book finally hits the box office.

The movie comes in with a weekend gross of just over $40 Million, potentially lower than expected as the movie is also available on HBO Max, altohugh as Halloween Kills has shown movies can do well as the box office even when on streaming the same day.

The film which stars Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson might have a short stay at the top but the response has been god enough that a sequel is almost guaranteed.

Halloween Kills

Hitting the top spot last weekend the movie was always destined for a single weekend at the top and this week takes $14.5 Million on its second weekend of release, a large 71% drop over last weekend, maybe dur to its availability on streaming?

The movie has now taken $73.1 Million at the American box office, and although the movie might get a boost next weekend as its Halloween we should see the movie sink down the box office quite rapidly now.

No Time to Die

Bond movie number 25 has not quite hit the same stride in America as it has across the rest of the world and this week takes $11.8 Million, a 50% drop over last weekend.

The movie has been on the box office for 3 weeks now and has a US total gros of $120 Million making it the 7th top movie of 2021.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

The superhero villain smash hit sequel falls to number 4 this weekend with $9.1 Million, a modest 45% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a total gross of $181.8 Million, very good for a sequel and its running almost parellel with its predecessor, the movie is now the 3rd top movie of 2021.

Ron's Gone Wrong

The new animated movie from directors Sarah Smith, who brought us Arthur Christmas and Jean-Philippe Vine makes its debut at number 5 this week with $7.3 Million.

The 2021 version of Dune, which got a release across some of the world a few weeks ago, get released in many major countries this weekend and in the process goes to the top of the global box office.

This is an excellent opening for the movie and is comparable to the original which opened at a similar time of year to £8 Million.

Halloween Kills

The long running Halloween series has been a long stay at the box office since 1979 and the latest movie this week makes its debut at number 3.

  • Highest debut - Halloween Kills (@1)
  • Longest run - Jungle Cruise (10 weeks)
  • Highest total gross - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings ($218 Million)

US box office top 5 breakdown weekend 15th - 17th October 2021.

Halloween Kills

The long running movie series that started with the John Carpenter directed Halloween in 1979 has been a regular box office hit maker over the last 40+ years.

The latest sequel, which is part of a 'final' trilogy directed by David Gordon Green makes its debut at the top this weekend with a fantastic gross of $50.3 Million.

This marks the third movie in as many weeks to make its debut with a gross over $50 Millin since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, showing real signs that people are willing to go back to the cinema.

Whats just as impressive is that the movie which stars Jamie Lee Curtis is also available to stream without extra fee on Paramount+.

No Time to Die

The latest James Bond movie, and the last for Daniel Craig, falls to number 2 this weekend after making its debut at the top last week, with a gross of $24.2 Million, a large 57% drop over last week.

The movie isn't proving to be as big a hit in North America as it has in other parts of the world, and in the US after 10 days of release has grossed $99.5 Million, it will pass the $100 Million mark before next weekend.

The movie is to date the 9th top movie of 2021, but it has some very stiff competition in the coming months.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

The superhero sequel movie falls to number 3 this weekend with $16.5 Million, a 48% drop over last week, which gives the movie a total US gross of $168 Million afer 3 weeks.

The movie is tracking very similar to the 2018 original Venom which ended up with $213 Million after 13 weeks.

This means the movie is the 4th top movie of 2021 and looking towards a $200 Million total, altohugh again with tough competition in the coming months that will take its audience away this could be a milestone too far.

The Addams Family 2

The animated sequel falls to 3 this weekend with $7.1 Million, a small 28% drop, giving the movie a total of $42 Million over 3 weeks of release.

The Last Duel

The new movie directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon and Adam Driver lands, rather disappointingly at number 5 this weekend with a debut gross of $4.8 Million.

Sequel movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage expands its country count and goes to the top of the global box office on its 3rd weekend of release.

Top new movie of the weekend is Halloween Kills which enters the global box office at number 4 this week, also new is Ridley Scott's The Last Duel which makes its debut at 7 with a little over $9 Million.

  • Highest debut - Halloween Kills (@4)
  • Longest run - The Boss Baby 2: Family Business (16)
  • Highest total gross - The Battle At Lake Changjin ($755.8 Million)

The 25th Bond movie falls to number 2 on its third weekend of release with a gross of $78.2 Million, a rather large 46% drop over last weekend.

The movie has now made a quite impressive $447.8 Million, it will go over the magic milestone of half a million by next weekend, but already the movie is the 5th top movie of 2021.

The Battle At Lake Changjin

The Chinese smash hit movie falls to number 3 this weekend with a gross of $71.8 Million still from a single country of release, this is a very good 34% drop over last weekend.

This gives the movie a massive total gross of $755.8 Million, it may struggle to get to a Billion dollars but it is not the second top movie globally of 2021 having just taken Fast and Furious 9 and is getting closer to Hi, Mom which is the top movie of the year.

Halloween Kills

The new Halloween movie makes its debut at number 4 this weekend with a release in 21 countries and a gross of $55.8 Million.

The Addams Family 2

Staying put this weekend at number 5 is the animates sequel movie which takes $16.9 Million from 22 countries giving it a 14% increase over last weekend and a total global gross of $58.5 Million after 3 weeks of release.
