New movies from director Jordan Peele are now an event and his latest movie, Nope, takes over at the top of the UK box office on its debut weekend.
Also new this weekend is the Hindi language remake of Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha lands on the box office at 8 with £325,000.
The mega smash hot Top Gun Maverick falls to number 7 this weekend with £405,000, a tiny 34% drop for a movie on its 12th weekend, but its worth noting that the movie would be number 1 with over £2 Million if the chart was measured Monday - Sunday.
Highest new movie of the weekend
Director Jordan Peele has carved out a very good niche for himself in the suspense horror genre and following Get Out and Us~2019 he lands at the top with his with his third movie.
Taking a weekend gross of £1.98 Million it doesn't quite reach the gross of Us~2019 which took £2.7 Million in its debut.
It also doesn't quite get to the £2.1 Million of Get Out from 2017, but with little in the way of strong competition going forward, and the hot weather in the UK this weekend this movie could have a longer run.
Critical reviews haven't been as good as the previous 2 movie, and although the movie has been enjoyed it is considered the directors lowest rating movie to date.
Brad Pitts crazy adventure on the famous Japanese train falls to number 2 this weekend with a weekend take of £906,000, a 68% drop over last weekend.
The movie has now taken £5.1 Million at the UK box office over its 2 weeks of release.
The animated pet movie from the DC Universe falls to 3 this weekend with a gross of £830,589, a reasonable 32% drop over last weekend.
The movie has now taken £8.2 Million over its 3 week run on the box office.
The former number 1 movie from the Despicable Me universe falls to number 4 this weekend with £754,416, a 32% drop.
the animated sequel to Minions has now taken a very respectable £38.6 Million at the UK box office over 7 weeks and although its gross is lower the the previous movie is is the 4th top movie of 2022.
The fourth movie in the Thor series takes £535,000 as it drop to number 5 on the box office chart.
It has now taken £34.6 Million over its 6 weeks of release and is the 6th top movie of 2022, it is also doing better than the previous movie in the series Thor: Ragnarok.
Sequel movie Fisherman's Friends: One And All has been given a 12A age rating in the UK moderate sex references, language
The movie stars James Purefoy who also starred in the original Fisherman's Friends from 2019 and he is once again joined by Dave Johns.
Taking over the directing duties this time are Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft for which it is a debut for both.

Horror/Slasher movie The Invitation has been given a 15 age rating in the UK for strong horror, violence, bloody images.
The movie stars Nathalie Emmanuel who can be seen in the Fast series movie Fast & Furious 9, it also stars Thomas Doherty who was last seen in the 2018 movie Free Dance.
The movie is directed by Jessica M. Thompson who previously directed The Light of the Moon in 2017.
After the death of her mother and having no other known relatives, Evie takes a DNA test and discovers a long-lost cousin she never knew she had. Invited by her newfound family to a lavish wedding in the English countryside, Evie's at first seduced by the sexy aristocratic host. However, she's soon thrust into a nightmare of survival as she uncovers twisted secrets about her family history and the unsettling intentions behind their sinful generosity.

The new action comedy movie starring Brad Pitt Bullet Train makes its debut at the top of the North American box office.
Also new this weekend is Easter Sunday which makes its debut at number 8 with $5.4 Million and on limited release Bodies Bodies Bodies is new at number 15 with $226,653, from 2 cinemas.
Starring Brad Pitt and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, based in Japan on the famous Bullet Train this action comedy enters the North American box office at number 1.
A debut gross of $30 Million makes it a reasonable hit, but the lack of any competition in the marketplace has helped it have a good debut.
The director is David Leitch who last movie was Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw which grossed $60 Million in its debut.
After making its debut at the top of the North American box office last weekend the animated pet movie falls to number 2 this weekend.
A gross of $11 Million is 52% lower than last weekend and takes the movies total gross to $44.9 Million after 2 weeks.
Jordan Peele's latest movie falls to number 3 this weekend with a gross of $8.5 Million on its 3rd weekend of release, a 54% drop over last weekend.
This gives the movie a total US gross of $97.6 Million
Number 4 in the Thor series of movies falls to number 4 this weekend with $7.7 Million.
Now on its 5th weekend of release the movie has taken $316.1 Million and is the 6th top movie in North America of 2022.
Finally on the top 5 is the animated sequel to Minions which takes $7.1 Million on its 6th weekend of release, a 35% drop.
This gives the movie a total in the US of $334.5 Million and it is the 5th top movie of 2022.
