After an amazing 6 week run a the top of the UK box office Spider-Man: No Way Home is knocked off the top by this weeks highest debut Sing 2.
Also new this week is Parallel Mothers starring Penelope Cruz which makes its debut at 6 with £301,877.

UK box office top 5 weekend breakdown 28th - 30th January 2022
The animated sequel to director Garth Jennings 2017 original Sing lands on this weeks box office at the top with a gross £6.8 Million.
This is lower than the first movies debut gross which was £10 Million, but that is most likely down to the pandemic as we are still seeing lower box office returns on the whole.
The movie has been a smash hit across the globe and in the UK the original was a smash hit, this will hang around for quite a while, it is already the second top movie of 2022 in the UK.
Kenneth Branagh's movie never made it to the top spot in the UK but it is proving to be a big hit regardless as it spends another weekend at number 2.
The film takes £1.8 Million over the weekend pushing its total to £6 Million, and making it the 3rd top movie of 2022.
The movie spent 6 weeks at number 1 over the 2021 Christmas and new year period but this week leaps over Belfast to number 3 as it looses the number 1 crown to Sing 2.
On its 7th weekend the movie takes £1.7 Million, a 24% drop over last week, giving it a total UK gross of £90 Million.
It is the top movie of 2022 and is the 6th top movie of all time as it tries to beat the £93 Million taken by Avatar.
Falling to number 4 this weekend is the horror franchise movie which takes £788,123 on its 3rd weekend of release, a 37% drop over last weekend, giving the movie a total in the UK of £6.1 Million.
Falling to 5 this weekend after its debut is the Guillermo del Toro directed movie which takes £330,830, a 40% drop from last week, giving the movie a total in the UK of £1,2 Million.
The movie could end up being one of the famed directors lowest grossing films in the UK.

This weekend at the global box office Spider-Man: No Way Home spent its 7th weekend at the top as its total global gross gets closer to the $2 Billion mark.
The highest new movie of the week was the sequel Chinese film The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure which landed at 9 with $3 Million on its debut.

Global box office top 5 breakdown weekend 28th - 30th January 2022
Seven weeks in now for the multiverse Spider-Man movie as it starts to challenge the global box office to be the top grossing movie of all time, an honour currently held by Avatar which has taken $2.8 Billion since its release in 2009.
The movie has still to be released in China which is currently still unset and its unknown if a release will happen.
This weekend the movie takes another $32.1 Million from 64 countries which pushes the movies total to $1.7 Million, so it still has a long way to go before it even goes over the $2 Billion mark, but it is achievable.
Its quite an achievement that the movie still only has a 23% drop over last weekend, meaning that people are most likely seeing the film multiple times.
The movie is naturally the top movie of 2022 and its gross is getting to the point where it may be hard to beat with $370.9 Million taken this year.
The animated sequel is proving to be a massive hit just like its prequel Sing from 2017 as the movie takes $22,2 Million in second place where it jumped back to this week, this is an amazing 17% increase over last weekend and the movie is released in 63 countries.
The movie is edging towards the $300 Million mark as this weeks its total gross hits $267.9 Million after 6 weeks of release.
This places the movie as the second top film of 2022 globally.
The horror movie sequel falls to number 3 this week as it starts its decent down the box office with a weekend gross of $13.8 Million from 56 countries, a 39% drop over last weekend, giving the movie a total gross of $106.2 Million after 3 weeks.
Director Guillermo del Toro latest movie jumps up the box office to number 6 this weekend with $6.6 Million from 42 countries, a 26% increase over last weekend, giving the movie a $22,9 Million total after 2 weeks.
Six week of release now for the prequel movie as it falls to number 5 this weekend with $5.9 Million from 47 countries, a 25% drop, giving the film a total global gross of $114.4 Million.

Spider-Man: No Way Home successfully fought off the Keneth Branagh directed Belfast to remain at the top of the UK box office for a 6th straight weekend while the afore mentioned Belfast came in at number 2.
Also making its debut this weekend is Nightmare Alley from director Guillermo del Toro which came in at 4 while the Denzel Washington directed A Journal For Jordan is new at 14 with £50,511.

6 weeks at the top now for the Marvel and Sony web slinger as the mega smash movie starring Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch takes £2.3 Million over its 6th weekend of release, a good 27% drop over last weekend.
The movie has now taken an amazing £87.4 Million total in the UK, and it is the top movie of 2022 with £17.6 Million taken this year.
It is also the second top movie released in 2021 with only No Time To Die having taken more and to top it all off it is the 7th top movie of all time in the UK.
There is every possibility that the movie could stay at the top of another weekend, although with the release of animated sequel Sing 2 on Friday it has its work cut out, and this weeks top new movie Belfast is pulling in the audiences as word of mouth is hyping the film.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Caitriona Balfe and Judi Dench this Irish movie is the highest debut of the weekend with £2.3 Million.
The movie actually topped the Irish and Scottish box office this week doing better than Spider-Man: No Way Home in those territories, but when combined it has to make do with a very strong number 2 debut.
With this successful UK launch the movie is the 5th top movie of 2022.
It has its work cut out, but the mid week chart has the movie as the top film of the week.
After making its debut at number 2 last week the movie drops to number 3 on its sophomore weekend with a take of £1.2 Million, a large 49% drop.
The movie has now taken £4.7 Million in total and is the 2nd top movie of 2022 so far.
Horror master Guillermo del Toro brings his latest movie to the big screen in the shape of a drama starring Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett which makes its debut with £550,868.
The movie has got good reviews and word of mouth but seems to have not made an impact on the movies box office showing and which could result in the film disappearing in a short amount of time.
Seven weeks on now for the live action version of the animated series as the movie drops to number 5 with £389,508, a low 38% drop over last weekend.
This gives the film a total UK gross of £4.1 Million, it is now the 4th top movie of 2022 with £2.5 Million of that taken this year.

A lack of big new releases over the last few weeks has worked well for Spider-Man: No Way Home as its spends an amazing 6th weekend at the top of the global box office.
The top new movie of the weekend enters at number 6 as Nightmare Alley gets released in 18 countries with a $4.6 Million debut.

A 6th incredible weekend at the top of the global box office for the web slinger as the movie takes $41.8 Million from 64 countries, giving the movie a very slim 23% drop over last weekend.
The movie has now taken $1.6 Billion over its 6 week run, it is the top movie globally of 2022 and the 7th top movie of all time, it will over take Jurassic World this week to be the 6th top movie of all time and the highest grossing movie under $2 Billion.
Staying at number 2 for a second weekend is the reboot of the Scream franchise which takes $22.6 Million from 55 countries, a reasonable 55% drop.
This gives the movie a total gross of $84 Million after 5 weeks of release globally and it is the 3rd top movie of 2022.
Also staying put this week and at number 3 is the smash hit animated movie from director Garth Jennings which takes $18.5 Million from 60 countries, a very nice 10% increase over last weekend.
The movie has now taken an incredible $241.2 Million globally and is the 2nd top movie of 2022.
No movie for the prequel movie from director Matthew Vaughn which takes $7.9 Million on its 5th weekend of release from 46 countries, a very low 23% drop over last weekend.
the movie now has a total global gross of $105.3 Million during its 5 weeks of release and is the 4th top movie of 2022.
The hit Chinese release is still only released in 4 countries and this week climbs back up 1 place to number 5 with $5.2 Million, a 23% drop, which gives the movie a 4 week total global gross of $137.1 Million.

Marvel movies when they release are alway an event and the new Spider-Man: No Way Home is no exception making its debut at the top of the North American box office with the third highest ever.
Also making its debut this weekend at number 5 is Nightmare Alley from Oscar winning director Guillermo del Toro.

US box office weekend top 5 breakdown 17th - 19th December 2021
It been quote a week for Sony, the MCU and Spider-Man as the latest movie from the Sony/Marvel MCU hits cinemas in the US and blows away all competition to create the third biggest North American debut in history, with only Avengers Endgame and Avengers Infinity War doing better, and both those movies featured Spider-man!
The movie take an absolutely massive $260.1 Million on its debut, including preview shows on Thursday, which is higher that Sony's original expectation of around the $252 Million mark.
It also means that the movie instantly becomes the top movie of 2021 smashing its way past previous holder and fellow MCU movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
In fact the top 4 movies of 2021, and hence the tick of the global pandemic, are all directly or indirectly movies from the MCU.
The movie is also responsible for a massive 92% of all money taken at the US box office this weekend.
Disney's latest animated movie has turned into a big hot for the Mouse House as it spends another weekend at number 2 with $6.4 Million, a 31% drop over last weekend.

Legendary director Steven Spielberg's latest movie drop drop the top to number 3 this weekend with $3.6 Million, a hefty 65% drop over last weekend.
Its unfair to call the movie a flop but despite the very positive critical and audience reviews the movie has only taken $18.2 Million after 2 weeks.
Another weekend in the top 5 for the Ghostbusters sequel as it falls to number 4 this weekend with $3.4 Million, a 52% drop over last weekend.
The movie has now taken $117.2 Million over 5 weeks of release and is the 10th top movie of 2021 in North America.
